Ornamental fish keeping is a rewarding hobby. Way back before I got my first fish, I started to keep canine as my pet, canine are very interesting pet they respond and obey to your commands, they are very playful but sometimes they are aggressive and stubborn. I love canine but since I have a garden sometimes the canine would run into my garden and destroy the plants in my garden.

There are so much more about canine, canine would litter there waste anywhere, that sometime I would step on them unaware. Canine also would have that stinky smell if they have not taken a bath, the canine fur would sometimes fly in the air and fortunately get inside my nostril and that is how they are.

Until one day I saw ornamental fish keeping in YouTube and that’s the time I got interested in in keeping ornamental fish. I can still remember my first time to step inside the pet shop, wearing my office uniform and the owner thought I’m a wildlife inspector. Because the next time I return to the pet shop they hide there turtle from the shelf, what a funny experience.

I set criteria in owning my first fish. I want a fish that is very hardy, a fish that can live longer time, a fish that can live even without aeration. And there are two kinds of fish that fits to that criteria. The first fish is a guppy, this fish is hardy, it can live longer and it can even live without any aeration. The second fish is very hardy, can live longer and same as the guppy they can live even without aeration.

The second fish fascinated me by its large and colorful fins and it’s not only that is has colorful fins, but it has also many forms. And as I went inside the pet shop I started to look around for this fish and luckily I saw this beautiful fish just inside that small cup with a very few water to swim on. I asked the for the price and it cost 250.00 Pesos probably $5.00 in US if the value of $1 is 50 pesos.

At first I don’t know its name but I know it is the one by its form. I ask the tender of the store if what is the name of the fish and he told me its the Betta fish. What a beautiful fish, it has a bright red color with a large fins, such a lovely fish to behold.
